MAYOR’S POLITICAL ADS MISREPRESENT HIS ROLE
Posted On: Jun 11, 2013

The City has already begun meeting with police and fire to discuss 2013-14  contracts. And though we have successfully negotiated contracts for the previous year, the City has only set-up one negotiating session for the coming fiscal period thus far.

Some are of the misconception that the union is already in negotiations due to misinformation paid for by the Bartlett campaign. Here, the record should be set straight: although His Majesty Bartlett has publically claimed that he sat down across the table from the union and negotiated, we believe it is important for the workforce and the public to know that this is a falsehood. In fact, written correspondence between union officials and Bartlett clearly illustrated that the Mayor has never been present at a negotiations session—even though the workforce had requested his presence on multiple occasions.

We are hopeful, however, that this year’s negotiations will be far more fruitful than last year, and that the Mayor will be more open and honest about his efforts. In preparation, the union’s economists are reviewing the City’s budgets and will be preparing proposals that will be available for public viewing.
